Top 3 Takeaways from Mega Leadership 2024

Today, I'm excited to share my top three takeaways from attending Mega Leadership 2024 in Austin, Texas. This event was an immersive two-day advanced leadership training featuring insights from industry leaders across all real estate sectors, not just Keller Williams. Here are the key moments that left a lasting impression on me.

1. Understanding followers' core questions. One of the most profound insights I gained is that followers within any organization consistently ask three questions:

  • Does the leader care about me?

  • Can I trust that leader?

  • Can that leader help me achieve my goals?

As leaders, it's a must to recognize these underlying concerns. Whether you're having critical or casual conversations, these questions guide the perceptions and trust of your team.

2. The pillars of real estate leadership. Industry icon Steve Murray from Real Trends emphasized three foundational pillars for leading in real estate in 2024 and beyond:

  • Finding Talent: Identifying and attracting skilled individuals.

  • Developing Talent: Investing in the growth and development of your team.

  • Managing Finances: Ensuring you spend less than you earn. Surprisingly, many teams are unaware of their actual expenses, leading to financial instability.

3. Making use of KPAs for relationship building. A significant highlight was the discussion on KPAs (Keller Personality Assessments) within Keller Williams. This tool is part of our career visioning process, designed to place the right talent in the right roles. We were asked to evaluate how effectively we use KPAs on a scale of one to 10. The takeaway here is that building strong relationships is essential in business, and KPAs are a powerful tool for fostering these connections.
